However, it's not uncommon to see an anchor doing triple duty. On weekends, there have been cases where Nalina Shapiro or even former anchor Mylous Hairston would anchor, report, and then be a sports anchor. Even Channel 7 with its budget problems isn't going to triple duty. I see Channel 2 is going to be changing the logo as part of the HD launch. They ran a spot on tv earlier tonight between 7:30-8pm asking viewers to go to wgrz.com/logo and help rank 5 possibilities. As far as I'm concerned, none of them look better than what they have now. Right now, they only have two general assignment reporters left: Kingston and Richert. The rest are either weekend anchors pulling double duty (Congi, Shapiro, even Segal!), investigative reporters (Vaughters, Moretti) or specialty ones (Ostrow). Not only does the mass exodus continue with good reporters leaving; the quality of the content in the newscasts that have gone downhill as well. If WIVB is still as good as they say they are, why do they keep wanting to steal segments from WGRZ? WIVB I think needs to do these things. 1) Get someone to replace Chris Musial because he doesn't seem to be running the station as well as the past. 2) At least get a widescreen newscast going. After all, WGRZ/YNN both started that back in early 2010, and now WGRZ is going HD in November after WKBW went HD in August. 3) See if reporters with actual experience can be added to the mix. Many of WIVB's newscasts have become unwatchable because the quality of some of the younger staff is just awful. Veteran reporters add a ton of credibility and can actually present a story well.
