Fairbanks Also to Anchor Noon; Ravens OT Win Big WNY Hit

I promise this will be the last Diana Fairbanks blog. Until the next one.

In any event, Fairbanks is going to be a very busy news anchor starting Monday when she moves to Channel 4’s morning newscast “Wake Up!”

I should have noted in an earlier blog that she also is going to work on “Winging It” at 8 a.m. on WNLO-TV and will anchor the noon news on Channel 4.

Channel 4 helped CBS earn the highest rating for an AFC Divisional playoff game on a Saturday in 19 years. The Buffalo affiliate had a 25.2 rating and a 42 share for Baltimore’s 38-35 double overtime victory over Denver Saturday. The rating placed Channel 4 12th among the 55-60 metered markets in the country.

Channel 4′s rating was about 25 percent higher than the 20.1 rating the game had nationally. Nationally, it was the highest-rated AFC divisional playoff game on Saturday since the Buffalo Bills defeated the Los Angeles Raiders in the playoffs on Jan. 15, 1994 on NBC. (Yes, you remember when the Bills used to make the playoffs, right?) That game had a 22.0 rating nationally.

The Ravens win had the largest audience for a Saturday AFC Divisional Playoff game in 26 years. Although the Bills-Raiders game had a higher rating 19 years ago, a rating point is worth more viewers today and that explains why the Ravens-Broncos could have more viewers than a higher-rated game.

Still want to know what is going to happen to Nalina and Ed. Don’t see them staying at 4 for too long.
